James Nichols

Bio

James Nichols is a full-time instructor at Sante Fe Community College.  He has taught Cisco classes, CompTIA A+ classes, and security classes (Ethical Hacking, Designing Secure Software, and Internet Security) along with courses using the programming languages of Python, C++, and Java.  While teaching at SF, Dr. Nichols earned his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in educational technology from the University of Florida in the fall of 2021.

He holds the following IT industry recognized certifications:  CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, CompTIA PenTest+, CompTIA Healthcare IT Technician, CompTIA Project+, CompTIA Cloud Essentials+, ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level, ISTQB Certified Tester, Advanced Level Security Tester, AT*SQA Certified Tester, DevOps Testing, ASTQB Certified Tester, Usability Testing, ISTQB Certified Tester, Game Testing, ISTQB Certified Tester, AI Testing and Python Institute's Certified Associate in Python Programming (PCAP). 

He also led SF to achieve its initial designation of being a National Center for Academic Excellence (NCAE) in Cybersecurity, which was granted in May 2025. He currently serves as the SF Point of Contact for NSA on the NCAE designation.
