Red-eared Slider
The Red-eared Slider (Trachemys elegans) is a mid-sized 5-8 inch turtle that can be found throughout the United States as well as many countries. They are listed in the top 100 of the world's worst invasive species. They have a beautiful olive-green shell and bright yellow plastron with the entire body covered with black markings. Two very distinct red stripes on the head giving them the name Red-eared Sliders. They can be found in almost any aquatic habitat with an ample supply of vegetation. Common Snapping Turtle
The Common Snapping Turtle (Chelydra serpentina) is a large, 203-494 mm widespread North American turtle. They are a light-tan to dark-brown and black, with a ridged carapace and a large beak connected to a powerful set of legs and a large, spiny tail. Interestingly the male grows to a larger size than the female. They can be found in the shallow portions of streams, rivers and lakes with muddy substrates.
