Eastern Glass Lizard
The Eastern Glass Lizard (Ophisaurus ventralis) is a large 40-108 cm lizard found throughout southern United States. They can be easily mistaken for snakes due to their long and slender body and lack of legs; however, like lizards they have external ear openings and moving eyelids. They occur in a light brown, green and yellow coloration, with dark striped patterns covering the entirety of the body. They can be found in sandy as well as damp or swampy environments. Green Anole
The Green Anole (Anolis carolinensis) is Florida's only native anole. This lizard feeds on insects and is primarily arboreal. Although not as dramatic as the chameleon (no relative), this species is capable of changing its coloration from green to brown. They can be found in garden and woodland habitats.
