Davonya Cheek began working in the lab in 2021 as an undergraduate pursuing a B.S. in Astrobiology. Her first project was Kin Recognition, during which she studied the effects of neighboring Arabidopsis root exudates. Currently, Davonya studies the microbes which grow in Martian regolith simulant and how best to eliminate them for research and phytomining lunar and Martian regolith with various plants.
