Minutes ME alignment meeting Nov 9, 2006 (by MH) ------------------------------------------------- Participants: Oleg, Dave, Dick, Vladimir, Xiaofeng, Valeri A., Jim, Duncan, Samir, Gyongyi, Marcus Oleg's summary: Marcus asks Dick if he has followed up on the serious misalignment of disks. Dick answers that Armando and riggers are aware and are pursuing this. However, there were other damages to dowel pins and chamber covers. They will continue to use grease pads at UX5. So, expect more trouble of this sort in UX5! Note that all 3 disks can be pulled together, but it hasn't been tried so must be practiced first. Should we put a larger plate on the nose of the Z-tubes? Problem is that this will then get closer to the DCOPS. Looked at other shapes. Dave: Put a mail box flag type mechanism in front of Z-sensor rods? Need to look into further. Analog R/O: During MTCC 2, data wasn't recorded for 5 time periods. Problem was that software wasn't restarted when analog power was cycled. Need to keep in mind for future operation and have alarm. This alarm has been implemented in DCS now and hasn't recurred since. -> DONE Overall MTCC2 analog data looks very good (except for the 5 holes) and is all available in raw format. Vladimir: Presented a systematic survey of the situation with all the Z-sensor / Z-tube contacts. Has concrete suggestions as to how Z-tube should be shifted along Z to correct these problems. Dick requests actual displacement figures (in mm) from Vladimir. Or are the Z-tubes the wrong lengths? Vladimir thinks that the lengths are probably correct, but that the tubes need to be shifted. Dick: Mechanics that locks plungers in 3 of the orange corner posts blew out during closing. But not clear how much that influences the Z-positions. Note, "Z-stops" are on face of ME1 only and determine distance to barrel. Corner posts are on all disks. Farshid: Has design for actuating transfer lasers with memory metal. Should be adaptable also for SLM lasers. What about magnetic force on this actuator ? Need to test. Plan on having prototype by January. Gyongyi: Lots of discussion on understanding COCOA fits and coordinate system to be used. Gyongyi and Dave to settle on this issue. Should we have a special meeting on Cocoa issues ? Yes, after we get an update from the software meeting we can decide on this issue. Samir: Has produced root files for MTCC 1. Plots made from root files look good. Will move on to MTCC2 soon. See his to-do list... Jim: He showed some profiles demonstrating why mean errors were sometimes strange, that showed that (as we'd expected) it was impossible to use a single laser setting to thread an SLM for both field-off and field-on, and a plot showing Rphi displacement consistent with laser angle bending while illuminating an SLM, which is non-radial by design.
