Fuel Spray modelling is one of the most relevant and most researched topics in the automotive industry today.
The computationally intensive nature and widely varying range of parameters of fuel sprays pose unique modelling challenges. While case-specific models with excellent performance for a small range of parameters exist, no unified model covering the range of all fuels and operational parameters exist. Through extensive dynamometer testing and visual velocimetry data, previous research has led to a unique semi-empirical model with excellent performance in automotive fuel spray applications, which is currently being employed in the computational simulations performed by FCAR
