Dr. Hemant Purohit is working as an Assistant Professor and Program Chair (Electrical and Computer Engineering) in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Florida Institute of Technology. He is also pursuing his second PhD (Computer Science) under the supervision of Dr. Siddhartha Bhattacharyya in the same department. In Spring 2024, he worked as a Graduate Student Assistant and Instructor, teaching three courses at Florida Tech.
Dr. Purohit brings over 19+ years of teaching experience, having taught students from diverse nationalities in India, East Africa, and the USA. He earned his PhD in 2015 and his Master's degree in 2011, both in Electronics and Communication Engineering from MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur, India.
He has held significant academic positions, including Professor and Head of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at JIET, Jodhpur, India, and Visiting Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Information and Communication Technology at ISBAT University, Kampala, Uganda. At JIET Jodhpur, he was awarded the "Best Teacher" award three times in recognition of his excellence in teaching.
Dr. Purohit is an active member of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society, the IEEE Communications Society, and the IEEE Council on RFID. His research interests include Model-Based Engineering, Conceptual Modeling, and the optimization of resources using the Data Interleaving Technique and its extensions to ensure effective communication for resilient communication networks.
