Welcome to the Advanced Manufacturing and Material Characterization lab at Florida Tech. Our research interests lie in material design, 3-D printing, metal additive manufacturing, and thermomechanical characterization of novel materials for applications in aerospace and biomedical, with a particular focus on high-performance multicomponent alloys, shape memory alloys, and composites.

• Jonah Covas joined the team as a new master's student.
• The new article "Next-generation multicomponent SMAs: leveraging HEA empirical parameters" has been published in the Journal of Scripta Materialia.
• Our lab has moved to OEC 115 and OEC 109 as of August 2024.
• Our teams attends TMS 2024 in Orlando and Hatim presents "High Entropy NiTiHfZrCu SMAs, Microstructure, Transformation, and Mechanical Response". 
• Milad Joins our team as a new Ph.D student. 
• Hatim Publishes his first "first author" article, "A Machine Learning Approach to Predict Austenite Finish Temperature in Quaternary NiTiHfPd SMAs"
• Dr. Saghaian received a Gordon L. Nelson Health Sciences Research Innovation Internal Grant.
• Experimental Analysis of Ultra-High Strength NiTiHfPd Shape Memory Alloys was published in the Journal Material Engineering and Performance.
• Modeling the Pseudoelastic Design Space of NiTi Fabricated by Laser Powder Bed Fusion was published in the Journal of Additive Manufacturing.
• Enhanced elasticity in magnesium nanoparticle-reinforced acrylic elastomer was published in the Journal of Polymer Engineering and Science.
• Load-induced local phase transformation and modulus of shape memory alloys under spherical indentation by finite element method were published in the Journal of Material Engineering Research.
• Energy Damping in Shape Memory Alloys: A Review was published in the Journal of Alloys and Compounds.
