Research Project

Paleoenvironmental history of the Yucatán Peninsula

Research interests

Baysian statistics, transfer functions, bioclimatic models

My work at the Paleoecology Lab started in September of 2003. Since then I have been involved in several projects including the pollen database, for which I described more than 600 species, pollen analysis of modern and fossil samples from Amazonian lowlands and the piedmont, and more recently samples from the Maya lowlands in Mexico, Guatemala and Belize. Currently I am working on Paleoecology and Biogeography of the Yucatan Peninsula, which constitutes my PhD dissertation. I have also a great interest in climatic processes of South America, especially regarding the effect of ENSO in Amazonia.
