
Kara Schmitt is a Research Assistant with the Human Centered Design Institute at Florida Institute of Technology. She is currently working on her Ph.D. with a dissertation which focuses on function allocation within nuclear power plants.
Previously, Ms. Schmitt worked with NASA under United Space Alliance as the lead structural engineer for Space Shuttle Atlantis where she was awarded NASA's Spaceflight Awareness award, as well as the Quest for Excellence Technical Achievement award for her work on the ARES I-X Modal Testing.
She is a certified Project Management Professional, holds a M.S. in Space Systems, and a B.S. in Physics from Florida Institute of Technology.
